Camrose, AB – The Camrose Kodiaks are excited to announce that 2007-born defenseman Rykan Baumle has joined the team for the remainder of the season following the conclusion of his U18 AAA campaign with the Leduc Oil Kings.
A native of Camrose, Baumle played his minor hockey locally before making the jump to the AEHL U18 level. This season with Leduc, he appeared in 33 regular-season games, recording 2 goals and 5 assists for 7 points, and added another assist in three playoff games.
Baumle has already had a taste of AJHL action, having suited up for two games earlier this year, where he picked up his first AJHL assist. At 6’0, 181 lbs, the right-shot defenseman brings high hockey IQ, strong positional play, and steady defensive instincts to the Kodiaks’ blue line.
“We’re excited to add Rykan to our group for the remainder of the season,” said Kodiaks GM Eric Kroetch. “He’s a local product who has continued to develop at the U18 AAA level, and we’re looking forward to seeing him take the next step in his junior career with us.”
The Kodiaks are gearing up for the AJHL Playoffs, and Baumle’s addition adds depth to the defensive corps as the team prepares for a deep postseason run.
