CAMROSE KODIAKS WELCOME JAKE HUCULAK AS ASSISTANT COACH FOR 2025–26 SEASON
Camrose, AB – The Camrose Kodiaks are proud to announce the hiring of Jake Huculak as Assistant Coach for the upcoming 2025–26 Alberta Junior Hockey League season.
From Jasper, Alberta, Huculak brings a well-rounded background in both academics and athletics. He began his hockey journey playing minor hockey in Hinton before advancing to the collegiate level at the University of Jamestown in North Dakota. There, he earned a degree in psychology and leadership, graduating with honors in 2024. During his time with the Jimmies, Huculak played a key role on a team that secured consecutive MCH conference championships.
Following his time in North America, Huculak took his game overseas and played professionally in Sweden for Asplöven HC in Haparanda. In addition to his playing experience, he has spent four seasons with the Gretzky Hockey School as a lead skills instructor. This further showcases his ability to develop and mentor young athletes.
Kodiaks Head Coach Geoff Walker is excited to bring Huculak on board. “Jake is going to be a great addition to our coaching staff. His energy, work ethic, and commitment to player development are exactly what we’re looking for. He has a genuine passion for helping players reach their full potential. I know the group will benefit from having him around every day.”
General Manager Eric Kroetch also emphasized the strength of the Kodiaks’ revamped coaching staff. “We’re entering an exciting chapter with a full-time staff that brings different perspectives and strengths to the table. Jake complements our group really well. Together, we believe this team will be extremely well-prepared and well-coached throughout the season.”
The Kodiaks will open their exhibition schedule at home on Saturday, September 6 at 6:00 PM against the Whitecourt Wolverines.
