CAMROSE — The Camrose Kodiaks have signed American Ian Alonso (F), the club announced Thursday.
Alonso, 18, joins the Kodiaks following an impressive showing at the Kodiaks Spring Camp. The Huntington Beach, California native is set to bolster the Kodiaks’ forward depth with his notable skill set and on-ice vision.
In the 2023-24 season with Shattuck St. Mary’s 18U AAA team, Alonso tallied 38 goals and 63 assists for a remarkable 101 points in 54 games. His dynamic playmaking and scoring ability makes him a significant addition to the Kodiaks roster.
When asked about why he chose Camrose, Alonso said “I believed signing with Camrose was the best opportunity for my development as a player and a person, it was an easy decision. The team is going to be solid this upcoming season and it’s going to be great hockey.”
Alonso’s development at Shattuck St. Mary’s, a renowned hockey program, has prepared him well for the competitive environment of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL).
