Camrose, AB – The Camrose Kodiaks are pleased to announce the signing of Rykan Baumle, a talented defenseman and Camrose native, for the 2025/26 season. Baumle began the 2024-25 season with the Kodiaks before returning to the Leduc Oil Kings U18 AAA, where he contributed 2 goals and 5 assists for 7 points in 33 regular season games. He also recorded 1 assist in 3 playoff games with Leduc.
Although he returned to Leduc, Baumle remained on as an affiliate player with the Kodiaks and suited up for 2 games, contributing 1 assist as an AP. Baumle’s strong defensive play and leadership on the ice make him a valuable addition to the Kodiaks’ blue line for the upcoming season.
“We’re thrilled to officially sign Rykan for the 2025/26 season,” said General Manager Eric Kroetch. “As a Camrose kid, Rykan has the drive and determination we love to see in our players. He showed a lot of promise in his time with us last season, and we’re excited to see him grow as a key part of our defense moving forward.”
Baumle brings a solid two-way game to the Kodiaks, and the team is eager to see him continue his development in the AJHL. His combination of skill, toughness, and hockey IQ will be a great asset to the team’s success in the 2025/26 season.
“We believe Rykan has a bright future ahead,” Kroetch continued. “We’re looking forward to seeing his contributions on the ice and watching him develop with the Kodiaks.”
