Community

The Camrose Kodiaks are committed to community involvement.

Kodiaks staff and players actively take part in numerous events within the community. The goal is to help educate and promote good citizenship in our players, and to give back our support to the community which supports us.

With those goals in mind, the Kodiaks are actively involved with projects such as the Relay for Life, Short Cut for the Cure, JDRF’s Walk to Cure Diabetes, Breast Cancer, Walk a Mile in Her Shoes, Dare Program, Charity Check stop, Farm Credit Canada’s “Drive Away Hunger” Campaign in aid of the Camrose Food Bank, Special Olympics and many other worthwhile community and social projects.

The Kodiaks are also involved with the youth of our community in a very big way. The Read with the Kodiaks program has been a huge annual success in Camrose and area schools. Kodiaks players actively suit up and support minor hockey in Camrose and surrounding areas. The Kodiaks are very pleased to be involved with Tim Hortons and the Tim Bit Hockey Program with Timbit players coming out to Kodiak games.

The Kodiaks Cubs Club was formed for players to encourage students to improve their literacy skills and to meet physical activity goals outside of school hours as well adding six new Little Free Libraries to the Community. The Kodiaks took things a step further this year to have kids do things outside of school!

It is a great way to make a life long friend! Players need a good home and a family when they move away from home and they are great role models in the community and great with kids!

You receive season tickets for billeting and an honorarium for keeping these young men. They range from 16 to 20 years of age and they go to school (high school or University) or they work part time.
