CAMROSE, AB: (June 28, 2023) Kodiaks Head Coach & GM announced today the signing of defencemen Carter Matthews. Matthews joins the Kodiaks from the Calgary Buffaloes organization where he was a stalwart on the back end for two seasons.
Martin believes that the addition of Matthews completes a backend that will provide at both ends of the ice this season, “Carter is a player we have had our eye on for a long time. He is poised with the puck and has shown the ability to dictate the pace of the game when he is on the ice. He is a player that checks all the boxes when you talk about his character, skill, leadership and big game experience. When you look at the make-up of our D Core, we have a strong mix of older, experienced players and with the addition of Cash Ganske and now Carter we think we have secured our back end as a strength for years to come. I am excited to get on the ice with Carter and get to work.”
