The Camrose Kodiaks are excited to announce the signing of 2009-born forward Cowan Gau for the 2026/27 AJHL season.
A familiar last name is returning to the Kodiaks family. Cowan, a Camrose product, grew up watching his older brother, Callum, wear the Kodiaks logo for more than 200 games while serving as team captain in his final season. Now, Cowan has the opportunity to begin writing his own chapter in the Kodiaks story.
Over the past two seasons, Cowan has developed with the Leduc Oil Kings program, where he established himself as a hard-nosed, competitive forward. His 26 points last season all came at even strength, a reflection of his ability to impact the game through relentless work ethic and five-on-five play.
General Manager, Eric Kroetch commented, “We’ve been tracking Cowan’s development for several years, while either at our ID camps or while playing in Leduc. Being a local player with strong ties to our organization, he’s someone we’ve gotten to know well. He plays with an edge, competes hard every shift, and isn’t afraid of the physical side of the game. We believe those qualities will make him a great fit for the culture we’re continuing to build in Camrose.
When asked about joining his hometown team, Cowan said: “Growing up in Camrose, playing for the Kodiaks has always been a dream of mine. I’m incredibly proud to represent my hometown community, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to play for such a respected organization with a strong culture and great staff.”
Welcome home Cowan, we can’t wait to see you wear the Kodiaks jersey and see your very supportive family cheering you on.
