Kodiaks Announce Allen York as New Goaltending Coach

Camrose, AB – The Camrose Kodiaks are pleased to announce that Allen York has joined the organization as the team’s new goaltending coach.

York, a proud Kodiaks alumnus, played for the team from 2006 to 2008, helping lead the club to back-to-back national championship appearances. His strong play earned him an NCAA commitment to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) and he was subsequently drafted by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 6th round of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

Following a professional playing career, York transitioned into coaching and has worked with ATC Goaltending in Edmonton alongside former Kodiaks goaltending coach Jamie McCaig. Recently relocating closer to home, the opportunity to rejoin the Kodiaks organization presented itself as a perfect fit.

“We are beyond excited to have York join the staff,” said Kodiaks General Manager Eric Kroetch. “He brings a wealth of knowledge from his experiences playing at the highest level, and now he’s eager to give back to the community and organization that supported him in his journey.”

The Kodiaks would also like to extend a sincere thank you to Jamie McCaig for his two years of dedication and commitment to the team.

“Jamie has been a consummate professional and an invaluable part of our staff,” Kroetch added. “He has nothing but great things to say about York stepping into this role, and we’re confident that Allen will carry on that legacy of excellence.”

McCaig himself shared, “With Yorkie now living in Camrose and having so much pride in this organization, it made a lot of sense for him to step in. He’s coming into a place he knows well and where he’s already succeeded.”

Welcome back, Yorkie and thank you, Jamie.
